The week. Highs in the upper sixties, lows in the low forties, and the first morning of the year that required scraping — Sunday, lightly, on windshields facing north.
Rain. Twenty-one days now. The DNR has the area in moderate drought and the fire danger sign on County 12 went to “high” Friday, which is late in the year for that sign to be doing anything at all.
Water. Big Pelican 62 Monday, down two on the week and down eight since the fair. Loon Lake is running a degree colder, as it always does.
Ahead. Cool and dry through the weekend. The forecast has had rain on Sunday for six days and has moved it twice and will move it again.
Verdict. Good hunting weather, good fishing weather, and a bad month for anybody with a lawn or a well. — T.B.
