Help Wanted

CHUTE VOLUNTEERS. Four needed, Saturday, 10 a.m., pavilion course, cross country home meet. Requires standing still and counting. Does not require cheering and in fact forbids it. — Coach Koski

ELECTION JUDGES. Six needed for November 3. Training one evening in October, compensated. Apply at the clerk’s window.

TWO MORE GIRLS. The cross country team needs two runners to score as a team. No experience necessary and no speed required. See Coach Koski or any of the three who are already doing it.

For Sale

FIREWOOD. Split, seasoned since spring, delivered and stacked or delivered and not. I have now had eleven calls, which is five more than the usual six, and I attribute it to twenty-one days without rain making everyone think about winter early.

FOR SALE. Shotgun shells, 20 gauge, two boxes, 7½, bought in 1994 for a dog that has been gone since 2011. I am not going to use them and I would rather somebody did.

FOR SALE. Chest freezer, works, and this time the door shelf is empty and has been inspected by me personally.

Lost & Found

LOST. One dog whistle, silver, on a lanyard, somewhere between the County 6 landing and the second trail. The dog does not need it. I do.

FOUND. A child’s jacket, a water bottle, one mitten, and a retainer wrapped in a napkin, all at the school office. The mitten in September is the one nobody can explain.

CHIMNEYS. Cleaned and inspected, October dates going now. Book before the first cold snap and not during it, which is when everybody calls and when I am already on a roof.

YARD WORK. Responsible seventh-grader, leaves in about two weeks by my estimate. Booking now. Rates as of August.

WANTED. A ride to the candidate forum October 8 for two, from the east side. We can walk in, we cannot walk there.

WANTED. Somebody to take the ladder from in front of the brewery. This is the fourth time it has been advertised. It has now been leaning on that building for one month. Nobody claims it.
