Tue., July 28. This newspaper. You are holding the event. The Klatch convenes at the Daybreak, windows shut, conversation concentrated.

Wed., July 29. The wind turns, allegedly. Windows may reopen by household preference; porch furniture recalled to active duty upon inspection. The Daybreak expects to crack the front windows by noon “ceremonially.”

Thu., July 30. Ladies’ Aid, First Lutheran, 1 p.m. Quilting, coffee, and pillowcase inspection for fair-bound quilts, per the instruction sheet, per what happened to the Dresden Plate.

Fri., July 31. Legion baseball, Post 162 vs. Sandstone, home, 7:15 p.m., air permitting — under the working light, with the trucks to the fence as required. A sweater for the third-base shade, as ever.

Fri., July 31. Story time, Misquah Public Library, 10:30 a.m., Megan Tollefson presiding. The ladder’s newest rung is in ink and has been confirmed straight by telephone, twice.

Sat., Aug. 1. FAIR ENTRIES CLOSE, NOON. Open class, two dollars, extended hours 8 to noon. Noon means noon. Enter the pickles; you are wrong roughly half the time about your pickles.

Sat., Aug. 1. Sorensen Hardware closes early — Walt and Carol’s fortieth; second early close in the store’s history, same reason as the first. Congratulations may be transacted at the counter all week; cards accepted with or without pretending it’s a surprise.

Wed., Aug. 5. Fall sports physicals, Lakeside gym. Forms, fee, toes. Denny Dahl posts practice times the same week.

Sat., Aug. 8. Services for Arvid Paulson, 11 a.m., First Lutheran, Rev. Lindholm officiating; lunch to follow in the basement. The stand will open that morning at the usual hour, close for the service, and reopen, which is how he would have scheduled it.

Thu., Aug. 13. Band lawn concert, Lakeside school lawn, 7 p.m., on the actual lawn, air permitting. Bring chairs (see Classifieds). Mr. Brekke will be thanked, briefly, per the negotiated terms.

Tue., Aug. 25. Planning board special meeting — the Hagen recommendation — 7 p.m., city hall. Written comment closes Aug. 18, c/o Donna. The town is advised to check the clerk’s window, and does.
