The first Doris Knutson Spelldown is Friday at 6:30 in the gym. The words come from her own Friday lists, the pronouncer has been saying them at a wall for six weeks, and the format is hers too.

Fall story time resumed Sunday with twenty-two children. Ruth Aune is in the building Tuesdays and Fridays, has not taken the desk back, and has now been asked twelve times about the winter reading program.

The Spelldown. Friday, 6:30, gym, grades 3–6, sixty-one entrants. Parking on the south side. Gym doors closed during rounds.
Picture day. Taken Wednesday. Retakes are Wednesday, October 21 — earlier than the district has ever scheduled them.
Conferences. October 15 and 16. Sign-up sheets go out the first week of October; third grade fills first, as it does every year, for reasons the office has stopped investigating.
Room 6. Fourteen of the twenty-four books Barb Nyberg laid on twenty-four desks September 2 have now gone home in backpacks. Two have come back. She keeps no list and says she would know anyway.
Cross country. Girls scored as a team Saturday for the first time since 2023. Coach Koski needs two more runners and a fifth van driver for Braham.
Election judges. The city needs six for November 3. Training is one evening in October and the work is one long day. The school office has the clerk’s number.
