25 years ago (2001). The homecoming parade ended at the school for the first time, having previously ended at the fire hall, a change the Pilot-Independent reported as “a sensible modernization.” It is ending at the fire hall on Friday.
50 years ago (1976). A dry September put the county under a burning ban and the fair board’s minutes record a motion to buy a second water tank, which was tabled for cost. The tank was bought in 1981.
75 years ago (1951). The men’s golf league ruled that scores from a night shortened by rain would count “with a notation.” The notation was made in pencil. The minutes do not record what became of it.
