SWEET CORN. County 12, daily, opens at six, sold out when it is sold out. The honor box is where it has always been. — the Paulsons

FOR SALE. Chest freezer, works, 1990s, must go before the corn does. Buyer hauls. Comes with the contents of the door shelf, which we have not identified and will not be discussing.

FOR SALE. Two boxes of canning lids, wide-mouth — SOLD, as forecast, Wednesday. Marlys thanks the market and would like it noted she was right in June, right in July, and right again. No lids remain. Do not call about lids.

FIFTH NOTICE — ZUCCHINI. The bread has stopped and the freezing has started. Grated, squeezed, bagged in two-cup portions, dated in marker: this is the endgame and it works. Loaves at the Dahlquist step have ceased; raw material continues, by the pail, on the porch, in the dark, as tradition requires.

FREE — CUCUMBERS. More than a household can pickle, which is a sentence I did not believe in June. Yellow house on Birch, box by the step. Take what you need and then take some more.

Lost & Found

STILL UNCLAIMED. The bird list found near the bay — spiral notebook, entries since 1994 — remains at the Pilot-Independent office and remains unclaimed. It has been moved away from the front window at the request of nobody in particular. The office will hold it through the fair. After that it goes in the safe, where the good pencils are.

FOUND. One lawn chair, folding, green webbing, left on the rec field after Friday’s movie. Claim at the school. It is marked underneath with a name that is not the name of anyone who lives here, which the school finds interesting.

LOST. Reading glasses, tortoiseshell, church basement, Saturday, during the lunch. Owner reports she can see well enough to write this advertisement and would like that on the record.

Wanted & Services

WANTED — THURSDAY. Lawn chairs for the concert: 141 pledged of 200. Drop at the school through Thursday noon, tape and a name underneath. The casserole rules apply. Nine days after that, the fair will want them back out.

YARD WORK. Responsible sixth-grader, rates unchanged. Booked solid through the fair; taking work the week of the 24th. References now include two grandmothers who are not his.
