The Pilot-Independent prints no obituary this week, a circumstance the desk records with gratitude and no further comment.

Services. Services for Arvid Paulson, 89, will be held Saturday, August 8, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran, Rev. Karl Lindholm officiating, with lunch to follow in the basement. The sweet-corn stand on County 12 will open that morning at the usual hour, close for the service, and reopen — which is, the family notes, how he would have scheduled it.

Death notices. None received this week.
