Tuesday, July 14. Warm and dead still, 84, exactly as forecast — hearing weather. The lake lay flat all evening as if listening too.
Wednesday. 85 and hazy, as promised. The forecast went two-for-two this week, which the forecaster asks be noted, as it will not last.
Thursday. A brief blow through midday, then clearing; the flags at the Legion field earned their pay.
Friday. 83, bright, a small north chop — walleye weather, and the walleye, for once, agreed.
Saturday. Tournament day: high cloud, light southwest, cooperative in every respect. The weather did its part. The bass filed their objection through counsel.
Sunday. Warm and slow, 81, the lake full of pontoons moving at the speed of conversation.
Monday. 79 and fresh-washed after an overnight sprinkle nobody ordered and nobody returned.
Verdict. Above average, like the children, and obedient to the forecast, which is the part nobody will believe.
