City Council Agenda, July 7. Among the items before the council Tuesday: the license application for a brewery and taproom in the former creamery; continued discussion of the proposed eighteen-lot Hagen pasture development, ahead of the July 14 hearing; the report of the stop-sign subcommittee, expected to recommend deferral to the fall; and the disposition of a stain on the Main Street sidewalk. Public comment invited. Coffee provided, and, as ever, regretted.

Notice of Public Hearing. The Misquah Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed eighteen-lot residential development on the former Hagen pasture, south of town, on July 14 at 7 p.m. at the city hall. Written comment may be submitted to Clerk Donna Skoglund, who will read every word of it. Alderman Pete Hagen, nephew of the late owner, remains recused.

Liquor License Application. Notice is given that Annika and Jonas Holt have applied for an on-sale license for a brewery and taproom at the former Co-op creamery. Comment may be directed to the city clerk before the July 7 council meeting.

Mud Lake Association. The association will meet July 8 at 7 p.m. at the Loon Lake landing shelter. Agenda: the summer water-level report, the matter of the swimming raft, and, per President Dorothy Knutson, “a brief and well-earned word about the moose.” All welcome. Mud Lake, the notice adds without being asked, remains underrated.

Notice of Hydrant Flushing. The Misquah Water Department will flush hydrants on the dead-end mains off Third Street — laid in 1948 and proud of it — Thursday, July 9, beginning at 8 a.m. Water may show temporary character. Residents are asked to run the cold tap until it runs clear, and to save their observations for the department, which has heard them, but politely.

County Fair — Open Class. Entries for open-class exhibits close Saturday, August 1, at the fair office; two dollars an entry, all categories, ribbons as merited. The giant-pumpkin weigh-in will be held the final Saturday of the fair at 10 a.m. The scale has been recertified at everybody’s request. The committee will entertain no theories.

Minutes Available. Minutes of the June meetings of the city council stand approved and may be read at the clerk’s window during regular hours. The municipal record now occupies, per Clerk Skoglund, a drawer and a half, and she would thank the council to slow down.

First Lutheran Church. Sunday worship, 9 a.m., Rev. Karl Lindholm. Sermon: “On Patience,” continued from last week. Ladies’ Aid Thursday at 1. Coffee follows all of it; the basement roof fund remains open, and remains a basement roof fund.

Misquah Methodist Church. Sunday worship, 10:30 a.m., Rev. Tom Eckert. Sermon: “The Narrow Way,” with limited reference to the parking lot, which is being repaved and is, at present, narrow indeed. Park at the school; the walk is short and, the reverend notes, scriptural.

Marriage licenses. Issued to Joshua Timm and Kelsey Braaten, both of Misquah. September, outdoors, “weather permitting” — the weather has been told.
