The opener already governs Misquah more reliably than some ordinances. Businesses plan around it, families return for it, and even people who do not fish know enough to ask how it went.
The question is not whether City Hall should declare a holiday. The town already has. The question is whether we treat that shared ritual with enough care: clean landings, safe roads, and a little grace for anyone backing a trailer under pressure.
Let the opener remain what it is — cold, hopeful, slightly ridiculous, and ours.
