MISQUAH — Mud Lake Brewing Co. opened August 15 and reaches one month Saturday, and the Holts intend to mark the occasion by unlocking the door at noon, which is what they do on Saturdays.

“We did a thing,” Annika Holt said. “The thing was three hundred people in the street. You don’t do another thing four weeks later. You just be open.” She reports that four separate people have asked what the brewery is doing for the anniversary and that two of them seemed let down.

The month in numbers, as the Holts keep them: twenty-four days open, three beers on continuously and a fourth rotating, the flagship out of stock twice, the stout out of stock six times, and $386 sent to the First Lutheran basement roof fund at a dollar a pint. Busiest day was opening day. Second busiest was the Saturday of fair week. Quietest was a Tuesday in August when it rained and eleven people came in.

The Martinez truck is in the alley Fridays and Saturdays and at the landing Thursdays and Sundays, and Sofia Martinez reports the alley shift will continue “until it is too cold to stand in an alley,” which she estimates at early November and which Mateo estimates at late October, and which is now, per the two of them, a wager.

The man at the north end of the bar has occupied the same stool eight Saturdays running. Staff have stopped remarking on it. He has been informed that they have stopped remarking on it, which he took as intended.
