The Ride Sheet Comes Down and the Hunting Sheet Goes Up
Pat Reinholt’s legal pad matched fourteen drivers with twenty-six riders over twelve days. It came down Monday. Something else is already taped in its place.
MISQUAH — The State Fair ride sheet came off the Daybreak’s front window Monday evening, twelve days after Pat Reinholt taped up a legal pad with DOWN and BACK written across the top in marker.
The pad matched fourteen drivers with twenty-six riders. Reinholt reports the only complication in twelve days was a Thursday when three people wrote their names under the same driver who had one seat, resolved by the three of them going down together on Saturday instead with somebody else entirely.
In its place, as of Tuesday morning, is a new sheet with GROUSE — WHO IS GOING WHERE written across the top, which Reinholt did not put up and which she has decided to leave alone. Four names were on it by nine.
“It is the same six weeks every year,” she said. “Fair sheet, grouse sheet, deer sheet, then nothing until the Opener. I have never once put one up and I have never once taken one down early.”
