Notice of Public Hearing. The Misquah Planning Commission will hear the proposed eighteen-lot development on the Hagen pasture south of town on July 14 at 7 p.m. at the city hall. The full plat is on file with the clerk and available for inspection during regular hours, which are “most of them.” Written comment may be left with Clerk Donna Skoglund before the hearing; she will read every word of it.

City Council — Regular Meeting, July 7, 7 p.m. Agenda: minutes; treasurer’s report; referral of the Hagen-pasture development to public hearing; first reading of a brewer’s taproom license (112 Second Ave.); the report of the subcommittee charged with staffing the stop-sign subcommittee; disposition of the sidewalk stain outside the Northern Tap; ratification of the Fourth of July road closure; and such other business as shall arise, which it always does.

Road Closure. Main Street will close Saturday, July 4, from 8:30 a.m. to noon for the land parade. Parking at the Loon Lake landing will be limited from 11 a.m. for the boat parade. There is no posted detour. There is no other street.

Brewer’s Taproom License. Application has been made for an on-sale brewer’s taproom license at the former creamery, 112 Second Avenue, by Annika and Jonas Holt. Comment will be received at the July 7 meeting. The Ladies’ Aid has already submitted some.

Assessment Notice. The summer road-grading assessment for the township gravel roads will appear on this year’s statements. Questions to the clerk. “It is the same as last year” is, the clerk notes, both the answer and the complaint.

Library. The Misquah Public Library will be closed Saturday, July 4. Summer reading does not pause; Ruth Aune notes that “the Elk does not observe holidays,” and neither, apparently, does Brynn Solberg.

Cemetery Association. The annual call for grounds upkeep volunteers goes out again. Bring gloves and a trimmer; the association will bring the coffee and the list of who is buried where, which is also, it should be said, a good story.
