MISQUAH — Homecoming week runs Monday through Friday and the dress days are, in order: camouflage day, decades day, class colors, and Thursday, which the student council has designated “anything green and gold” and which the office has clarified means anything green and gold that a person could also wear to a job.

The clarification was issued Monday afternoon and is understood by everybody to concern one specific costume from last year that this newspaper is not going to describe.

Float building is in three machine sheds and a pole barn. The junior class, which is defending nothing because there is no float competition, has built one anyway and has been the most secretive of the four, to the point that a sophomore was reportedly turned away from the shed on Saturday.

The junior class is also running the concession stand, having sold thirty-one pies in two hours at the home opener. It asked for forty this time. As of Monday, thirty-four are pledged, from seventeen households, of which — and this newspaper checked, because it seemed worth checking — nine have no child in that class and four have no child in the building.

The parade steps off downtown at 4 Friday and will end at the fire hall rather than the school (see this edition). Coronation is at 5:15 in the gym. Kickoff is at 7 against Pine City, who come in 3–0.

Pike is 1–2.

The coronation is at 5:15 and runs about twenty minutes. The candidates were announced Friday and the school has asked this newspaper not to print the names in advance, which it has asked every year and which this newspaper has honored every year, and which everybody in town already knows because the candidates told their grandmothers.
