Letters to the Editor
The letters page is for arguments a neighbor could reasonably make across a table, even when another neighbor thinks the argument is wrong.
What we ask
- Keep letters to roughly 300 words. Shorter is welcome.
- Include your real name and town or township. A street address and phone number are requested for verification but are not printed.
- One letter per writer per issue unless the editor has a reason to make an exception.
- We edit for length, clarity, grammar and libel. We do not edit a writer into agreeing with us.
- Campaign letters are accepted through the issue before Election Day and are labeled as letters, not news.
What we decline
Anonymous attacks, impersonation, commercial testimonials disguised as letters, and claims we cannot responsibly publish.
