Our View: Paint the Lines Before the Parade

A town that can argue over landing stripes can surely agree on parade lines. The Fourth of July is not tomorrow, but it is close enough that delay has begun to look like planning.

We recommend the city paint the lines, place the cones, and decide the parade route before the brass section asks where to stand. Small towns do not need large plans, but they do need plans large enough to keep the fire truck from backing up twice.

This is not bureaucracy. This is mercy for anyone driving a float made from a hayrack.
