Corrections Policy

When we get a fact wrong, the correction belongs to the paper, not to the person who noticed it.

How corrections work

  • Simple spelling or typographical fixes may be corrected online without a note when they do not change meaning.
  • Material factual errors are corrected in the online story with a dated correction note.
  • Material errors from a print edition also appear in the next week’s Corrections & Amplifications column.
  • We do not silently rewrite a disputed quote or public-record fact. We check it and explain the result.

Send a correction

Use the newsroom form and include the headline, the fact you believe is wrong, and the source for the correction if you have one. You may also write editor@misquahpilot.com.

What is not a correction

A disagreement with an editorial, a letter writer or a quoted public official is not a factual correction. Those responses belong on the letters page.
